چکیده

This paper presents a new branch-and-bound mixed-integer linear programming-based algorithm for designing discrete-coefficient finite-impulse response (FIR) filters using a cluster of workstations as the computation platform. The discrete coefficient space considered in this paper is the sum of signed power-of-two space, but the technique is also applicable to other discrete coefficient spaces. The key issue determining the success of the algorithm is the ability to partition the original problem into several independent parts that can be distributed to a cluster of machines for solution. The master–slave model is adopted for the control of the machines. Test run results showed that super linear speedup (i.e., the speedup factor is more than the number of machines running in parallel) may be achieved.

Design of High- speed FIR filter Based on Booth Radix-8 Multiplier Implemented on FPGA

Finite Impulse Response (FIR) digital filters have potential for high-speed and low-power realization through parallel processing on FPGA. In this paper, an efficient implementation of FIR filters, which uses a Booth Radix-8 multiplier, is suggested. For implementation of the said FIR filter MATLAB FDATool is employed to determine various filter coefficients. The 8 order FIR filters have been d...

A class of complementary IIR filters

A class of complementary IIR filters is introduced. One of these filters can be realized as a tapped cascaded interconnection of identical allpass subfilters. The complementary filter is then obtained automatically by adding some extra allpass subfilters and a subtractor. The proposed filters are always allpass complementary and, under certain conditions, also magnitude complementary. Further, ...

Optimization of FRM FIR Digital Filters Over CSD and CDBNS Multiplier Coefficient Spaces Employing a Novel Genetic Algorithm

— It is well known that frequency response masking (FRM) FIR digital filters can be designed to exhibit very sharp-transition bands at the cost of slightly larger filter lengths as compared to the conventional FIR digital filters. The FRM FIR digital filters permit efficient hardware implementations due to an inherently large number of zero-valued multiplier coefficients in their transfer funct...

A Novel Diversity-Controlled Genetic Algorithm for Rapid Optimization of Bandpass FRM FIR Digital Filters Over CSD Multiplier Coefficient Space

The conventional frequency response masking (FRM) approach is one of the most well-known techniques for the design of sharp transition band finite impulse response (FIR) digital filters. The resulting FRM digital filters permit efficient hardware implementations due to an inherently large number of zero-valued multiplier coefficients. The hardware complexity of these digital filters can further...
